What are modern computers?

A modern computer is an electronic, binary, Turing machine that has evolved over several hundred years in the field of computing.


 

Computer Architecture

The architecture of all computers is made up of various principal components that when brought together constitute a working computer. They include: the processor (interprets programs into actions), memory (stores information in real time while that information is being actively processed), permanent storage (stores information, programs, and other instructions for long term use), and logic-boards (handle the communications, input, and output of the machine). There will also be an input device such as a keyboard and a visual interface such as a monitor or other screen. It will also have an output function.
